About GRASP

As a hybrid between a professional conference and an artistic festival, GRASP is on a mission to prove that we can grasp the unexpected opportunities by bringing together communities of practice.

Through talks, workshops, panels, concerts and performances, GRASP breathes life and air to a movement of sustainable change. During two days in the early autumn, artists, practitioners, researchers and activists gather in a melting pot of knowledge exchange, presentations and performances. As a guest, you will experience a wide range of professional inspiration, artistic and thoughtful breaks, as well as ample opportunity to expand your professional network.

Art, research, activism and practice meet at GRASP to strengthen community and creativity among those working to create sustainable change.

The core focal point of GRASP 2023 is UTOPIA in its broadest sense. How can utopias create a more sustainable world? How can we play with the future through speculative designs? How can we translate dreams into actions? How can we form bold ideas and bring together stakeholders from the world of business, design, art, activism, education, etc.?

The two day-conference is structured around the following tracks

New connections create unexpected opportunities

GRASP saw the light of day in 2021 as a platform to convey Roskilde Festival's documented experience with art as a driving force for radical social change. Roskilde Festival is behind GRASP in collaboration with Roskilde University, Roskilde Municipality, Roskilde Festival College and Ragnarock.

The network also includes research, cultural and communication institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art, Absalon University College, Musicon, Roskilde Library and Rhythmic Music Conservatory.

The partners have selected and put together the program on the basis of their areas of expertise and are thus building a new bridge between practice, art and research.
