On 18 November 2021, Danish sample duo Den Sorte Skole conquers one of the holiest of buildings, namely Roskilde Cathedral, for a special concert production based on religious and spiritual traditions throughout music history.
The artwork is called "REFRAKTO", and it will be a total experience full of music, sound, light and laser.
The Danish duo – consisting of Martin Højland and Simon Dokkedal – delves into religious and ritualistic music from all over the world. They examine various traces of spirituality in music history and bring them together in an audiovisual journey inside the amazing church room of Roskilde Cathedral.
The visual part of "REFRAKTO" is created by artist collective Vertigo who will build a light installation in the church room. In doing so, they support the connection between religious music history, the special architecture of the church room and modern technology. The installation is built specifically for Roskilde Cathedral’s architecture.
